Quick Thoughts
It’s nice to see the return of free night certificates on the consumer card. Those can certainly provide a great return on spend if you’re able to use them all for maximum value. Keep in mind that unlike the card’s annual free night certificate, you can not top off the 60K free night certificates with additional points, which somewhat limits their utility. Still, there’s no doubt that each one could easily save you a couple hundred bucks or more.
The business card offer is featuring what is now the best offer we’ve ever seen on that card. While the “maximum” value appears to be less than the free night certificates awarded by the consumer card, keep in mind that points are far more flexible — you can use them for more nights at properties that cost fewer points or for a couple of nights at a truly top-tier property and you’re not under the pressure of looming expiration. That might make the business card more appealing for some, though it really depends on your use case.
Keep in mind that either card will get you the 4th night free on award stays and both of them come with United Travel Bank credit. The annual free night certificate alone could justify keeping one of these cards year after year. If you’re going to want one of them long-term, getting it while the offers are elevated could certainly make sense.
