Wyndham Rewards selling 30 night hotel pass for $499 – but there’s a gotcha

Wyndham Rewards has announced that it will be selling something called the “Ultimate Hotel Pass” in early July. This pass will allow for up to 30 nights at hotels and resort within Wyndham’s portfolio through the end of September…all for only $499+tax. If you were able to use all 30 nights, you’d end up getting them for an average cost of around $17 each…a pretty spectacular price.

There are a couple of catches though.

First, Wyndham is only making 25 of these passes available to members in the US, so your chances of getting struck by lightning are probably better than your chances of actually being able to purchase one.

The second? You’d have to spend 30 nights at Wyndham properties in a little under three months.

The Deal

  • Register for a chance to buy one of 25 Wyndham Rewards Ultimate Hotel Passes for $499 + tax. The pass includes:
    • 30 nights of hotel stays redeemable over the next three months at thousands of properties across Wyndham’s portfolio
    • A “Pass Concierge” to assist with reservations, modifications, and cancellations
    • Use of pass nights to book an extra room for accompanying guests.
    • Limited blackout dates with taxes and resort fees included at most hotels and resorts.
  • For a chance to purchase a pass, you must pre-register by July 4, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • On July 8th, 2024, 25 potential pass holders who pre-registered will be randomly selected and notified of their opportunity to purchase a pass. They’ll have 48-hours to claim their pass or a new name will be pulled.

Quick Thoughts

First of all, let’s get the nomenclature cleared up. This isn’t a “sale.” It’s essentially a sweepstakes or lottery, with the odds of being able to buy a pass somewhat akin to the odds of winning Powerball. That said, Wyndham will be selling 25 of these things, so if it sounds like something you could use, there’s no harm in registering.

The pass is only valid for Wyndham Rewards members registered in the US and it’s only valid for stays through September 30th. While the passholder has to actually stay in the rooms, they can also book a second room at the same property they’re staying at, something that could make it much more useful for a family. It’s worth noting that you can’t spend more than 10 nights at any individual hotel or resort.

Wyndham properties won’t be leading any Conde Nast Traveler “Best of” lists anytime soon…but, at $17/night, it’s hard to complain.

There are actually plenty of passable Wyndhams out there. Nick and I took the whole team to the Wyndham Golden Suites in Foz do Iguacu during last year’s Party of Five Challenge. I never did figure out what made the suites “golden,” but Carrie was impressed by the “dark, creepy hallways where the lights would flicker for a solid 4 or 5 seconds after the elevator doors opened.” Sounds like a bargain for seventeen bucks.
