Some Southwest cardholders are being targeted with an offer giving 3,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points when spending $1,000 by the end of January.

Key Terms
- To be eligible for this bonus offer, you must register between 11/1/2024 12:01 a.m. ET and 1/31/2025 11:59 p.m. ET (“Promotion Period”).
- Use your Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card to make at least $1,000 in purchases during the Promotion Period to earn 3,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points.
- So long as you register during the Promotion Period, eligible purchases made during the Promotion Period will retroactively count toward the required spend.
- The bonus points will count toward Companion Pass qualification, but will not count toward A-List or A-List Preferred qualification.
- Please allow up to eight weeks after the end of the Promotion Period for the 3,000 bonus points to post to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account.
- “Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, traveler’s checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, racetrack wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, or fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.
- Points transferred from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Southwest Rapid Rewards are not eligible for the bonus.
- Points and bonus points earned on a new Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card account opening are not eligible for the bonus.
- Only the Rapid Rewards Member who received this offer from Southwest Airlines is eligible for this promotion.
- Bonus points will post directly to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account and will not appear on your credit card statement.
- To qualify for this bonus offer, your Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
Quick Thoughts
It looks like this spending offer has been around since the start of November, but I only noticed it on my account last night.
It’s a nice little offer if you’re targeted, especially if you’re planning on trying to earn a Southwest Companion Pass this year. That’s because the bonus Rapid Rewards points also count towards Companion Pass qualification, so spending $1,000 on the card should net you 4,000 qualifying points (1,000 from the base spend and 3,000 bonus points from this promotion).
What’s even better is that any purchases you’ve made on your card since November count provided you register before January 31 as that spend will count retroactively.
Chase usually offers targeted spending offers each quarter where you can earn 5x or 7x in certain categories. We’ve not seen those yet for Q1 2025, but if they do appear in the coming days and you’re targeted on your Southwest card, you should be able to stack the two promotions.
