This is huge: Some American Express Business Platinum cardholders have been targeted with a referral offer to refer friends where the friend can earn 250,000 Membership Rewards points after making $20,000 in purchases in the first 3 months. We’ve seen some other opportunities to get that introductory offer, but it’s really exciting to see that some cardholders are now targeted to refer to it.

I was recently targeted with the ability to open a new card under a 250K offer that I found within my Amex login (see this post for more detail). I hopped on that offer without hesitation as 250,000 points from a single card is a monster offer indeed.
At a base level, if you were to also open a Business Checking account with Amex, a Business Platinum cardholder could redeem 250K points for $2,500. However, transferring to airline and hotel partners can yield far more value. Our Reasonable Redemption Value for Amex Membership Rewards points — which is based on the value you can reasonably expect without high effort at maximization — is 1.55 cents per point. At that value, the bonus is worth $3,875. Those readers who mainly focus on premium cabin international award tickets can do significantly better yet.
Note that the Business Platinum card does have a high annual fee at $695. It currently comes with up to $200 per calendar year in airline incidental fee credits. Opening the card now would mean having the chance to earn those $200 in credits before December 31, 2024 and again starting on January 1, 2025 (for a total of $400 back in airline fee credits over the two calendar years) before paying a second annual fee. See our post about what works to trigger those credits.
The card also currently features up to $200 in statement credits for purchases at Dell from July to December through December 31, 2024. We reported that a reader who activated the Dell benefit today saw messaging that the Dell credit will be available one more time between January and June of 2025. If true, a new cardholder should be able to get up to $400 in statement credits for Dell purchases before that benefit ends.
Between the benefits and the massive size of this bonus, this is a great offer to consider if you have the capacity for large spend. Keep in mind that you could alternatively open multiple cards with smaller spending requirements and potentially earn nearly as many (or perhaps even more) bonus points, but a quarter of a million points from a single card introductory bonus is about as good as it gets.
How to know if you are targeted
Only some Business Platinum cardholders are targeted to refer to the 250K offer every time. If you are targeted, when you log in to your American Express card account and click “Refer a Friend” in the menu at the bottom of the page:
You will see this under your Business Platinum account if you are targeted to refer to it.
If you see that in your Amex login, then your link should always pull up the 250K offer.
If you see the following, then you are not targeted and your link will not always bring up the 250K offer.

That said, Amex referral links do sometimes open a better offer than shown. It is still possible that you could share your link with a friend and they might see the 250K offer, but the only way to know they will see the 250K offer for sure is if you have a targeted link to that 250K offer.
We need your targeted 250K links
If you have been targeted for the 250K offer and only if you are targeted to share the 250K offer, we need your links! At Frequent Miler, we only publish the best publicly-available offer for each of the credit cards we list. Our Best Credit Card Offers page always lists those best-publicly-available offers. Since the 250K offer is now the best publicly-available offer, we need reader links to share on our Best Offers page.
If you have a 250K link to share, please head over to our Frequent Miler Insiders Facebook group and find the dedicated referral thread for this offer. Read the thread instructions and leave your link as a reply to the first comment (where you see all of the other links). Links left in the comments here will get caught in our spam filter and will not post — the Facebook thread is the only place to leave your referral link for inclusion on the Best Offers page.
